What is HPC?

Supercomputing – also called high performance computing – provides technologies to run compute- and memory-intensive applications. Simply put, supercomputers are the fastest and the most powerful computers designed to solve problems that are too large or too complex to fit on normal desktop PCs. Originally used mostly for engineering and science applications, Supercomputing has expanded to finance, entertainment (film-making and animation), biomedical (drug discovery), and many other areas. They are being used in ways that influence our everyday life, from designing the flats we live in, to engineering the cars we drive and creating the movies we enjoy.
